Arsène Wenger Signs 2 Year Extension!

Arsène Wenger has signed a new 2 year extension which run’s out in the summer of 2019. This contract extension was very much undecided on both the manager and the board until a month ago. This season was the first in Wenger’s 20 years in charge of the Gunners that he has finished outside the top 4, which has resulted in them playing in them Europa League for next season. Many Arsenal fans have been calling for Arsène Wenger to leave the club with Banners, Protests and Planes but all that has all been ignored with him signing this new contract. There has also been fans calling for Wenger to stay because of his history and achievements he has done for the club.

The Wenger Out party has been shouting out loud and has got very big over this past 12 months that have just gone by. The reasons why they are saying Wenger out are that it has been 13 years without a Premier League title, also there hasn’t been a title challenge in many years gone by. The key signings haven’t been as consistent although Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil have been signed by Wenger, but before that all major players were being sold such as Cesc Fabregas, Robin Van Persie, Gael Clichy, Ashley Cole, Emmanuel Adebayor and many others. With Sanchez and Ozil’s contracts both running out and interest from other top clubs around Europe it remains to be seen if they will stay at the club. The problem with many fans is that Arsenal have never sustained a real challenge at winning the Champions League, with just been beat 10-2 on aggregate against Bayern Munich in the round of 16.

The Wenger In party has been out spoken this season and the reasons they have provided, are that Wenger has won the Fa Cup a record breaking amought of times. They also say that Wenger’s change in tactics have shown that he is ready to adapt to different scenarios, such as changing to a 3-5-2 formation. Wenger has shown some real signs of change especially with the change of tactics and the fact he is admitting when he is wrong. Also the history of what he has done for the club with the invincible’s and league titles he has won in the past. Many fans would say he built the new stadium with the club potienally outgrowing Highbury.

Wenger is set to break Sir Alex Ferguson’s record off being in charge for 810 Premier League games, with his last being that thrilling encounter against West Brom which ended 5-5. Arsene Wenger’s 3-1 victory over Everton was his 790th Premier League game in charge. With a record breaking amought of games in charge on the brink set to be completed, Arsene Wenger will go down in history as a legend.
